Kinetic energy is the energy of motion. Anything that is moving — a ball rolling, a car driving, a marshmallow flying through the air — has kinetic energy, and the faster it moves, the more kinetic energy it has.
When Fix released his catapult, the elastic potential energy stored in the rubber band instantly turned into kinetic energy, sending the marshmallow zooming through the air at top speed!
Energy is always changing form like this. Stored energy can turn into moving energy, and moving energy can turn into other forms too, like heat or sound, when something finally stops moving.
