White light looks like it has no color at all. But it is actually a mix of every color of the rainbow, all blended together! This full range of hidden colors is called the light spectrum.

Freddy showed this by shining sunlight through a glass of water onto a piece of paper. A whole rainbow appeared on the paper, even though the sunlight going in looked completely white!

Each color in the light spectrum bends by a slightly different amount when it passes through water or glass. Red bends the least and violet bends the most, which is exactly why the colors spread apart into a rainbow.
